We recently attended a milestone leadership luncheon hosted by HKU Business School Alumni Association (HKUBSAA) Honorary Advisor Mr Gilbert Lee, Executive Chairman, Hang Seng Indexes; Vice-Chairman, Hang Seng China; and Chief of Staff, Hang Seng Bank. The luncheon brought together, for the first time, the Associations’ Honorary Advisors, Governors and Executive Committee members.
Positioned as a strategic dialogue rather than a social gathering, the event provided a focused platform to exchange perspectives on alumni development, deepen mutual understanding of priorities, and align on the future direction of the HKU Business School alumni ecosystem.
In his opening remarks, Mr Lee highlighted the vibrancy and diversity of the HKU Business School alumni network and outlined his vision to leverage both the Hang Seng Bank platform and the School’s platform to nurture future business leaders, reinforce the alumni ecosystem and support Hong Kong’s role as an international financial and knowledge hub.
Professor Hongbin Cai, our Dean, reaffirmed that a university’s long-term strength is closely tied to the engagement of its alumni. Emphasising HKU’s deep roots in Hong Kong and its unique position at the intersection of East and West, he encouraged the Hong Kong alumni community to act as a conduit for talent, ideas and opportunities that can amplify the School’s impact locally, regionally and globally.
HKUBSAA President Mr Marvin Hung, Vice Chairman of Hung’s Group and Executive Director & CEO of Hop Hing Group Holdings Limited, presented the Association’s upcoming plans and underscored the shared responsibility of alumni to uphold and advance the HKU legacy with professionalism, commitment and a long-term perspective.
The luncheon represents an important step in further institutionalising collaboration between HKU Business School and HKUBSAA. Building on this foundation, the School will continue to work closely with the Association to develop a structured portfolio of alumni initiatives, including knowledge-sharing seminars, exchange opportunities, conferences and networking events, with the aim of fostering a more connected, engaged and impactful alumni community.
